you really should qualify this with which day of the week the question is asked. my answer--if this question was asked on a Monday--would be different that if the question was asked on a Thursday.
Also, there are regional differences. When I was a kid in Madison, "next" literally meant the one coming next. But when I got to college in Rochester, I learned that there "next" meant the one coming after the one coming next.
